Who We Are
We speak MUSIC. It's our universal language and tool to influence young people, aiming to establish the Kulture of the Unashamed. Every activity by K-Krew is infused with music, which transcends cultures and borders, uniting people regardless of background or social status. Music connects deeply with the spirit, and we strive to resonate with that part of our audience. Energetic, Hip, Creative, with a Love for God and People, that’s who we are.
VISION
To create a movement of young people in Africa and around the world who are Totally Sold Out to Jesus Christ; the Kulture of the Unashamed.
Romans 1:16 - "For I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes."
MISSION STATEMENT
A Youth Outreach that seeks to Evangelize, Disciple, and Foster Responsible Living through Biblically Based Convictions and Urban Gospel Music.
BACKGROUND
K-Krew started in May 2000 when Moses K Mathenge (DJ Moz @mozdj on Twitter) began a radio show called Kubamba on a Christian station. As he introduced Urban Contemporary Christian Music to the public, the show’s popularity soared. Friends John Njuguna (Njugush @njugushkkrew on Twitter), Gowi Odera, Oscar Arigi, and Ashley Ndambu joined to support the radio show, forming what became known as "Kubamba Krew," later shortened to K-Krew. The positive listener response, with young people calling in with questions and responding to altar calls, motivated K-Krew to seek more opportunities to spread the gospel through music.
From radio, K-Krew expanded to high schools and colleges, targeting their main audience aged 14-26, which represents 60% of Kenya’s population. They also started holding concerts featuring top gospel artists throughout the year in Kenya. K-Krew has now grown into a dedicated staff team and an extended family of musicians and industry players.
We focus on three main areas to impact young people, which we call 360 Degrees - Online, On Air, On Ground: Media, Student Outreach, and Events.
God bless and welcome to the movement: #KOTU the Kulture Of The Unashamed.
